CARPED believes that communities and marginalized sections of society can ensure better living conditions through education and collective action

CARPED is a group of young professionals engaged in participatory community development with a focus on promoting child rights and community control over natural resources. The group was formed in 1989 and has been active in various areas, including preventing displacement of tribal communities, environmental education, and legal aid. Since 1994, CARPED has been involved in child issues and participatory community development in the Kowdipally Mandal of Medak, with a focus on natural resource management.

CARPED has facilitated state level networks of NGOs comprising more than 200 organizations engaged in the promotion and strengthening of participatory forestry management through Joint Forest Management/ Community Forest Management. Similarly state level network of NGOs engaged on promotion of child rights in the state. CARPED has also facilitated youth sensitization programmes in the tribal areas of Warangal, Khammam and Adilabad.

CARPED’s key areas of focus are child literacy, protection and promotion of child rights, elimination of child labor, and community control over natural resources. The organization has prepared educational material for child laborers turned students at different levels, as well as for marginalized communities in society. CARPED has strengthened its educational programs by building the capacity of Village Education Committees, self-help groups, and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to protect child rights, promote adolescent girls’ literacy, and motivate rural youth to participate in all literacy programs.

CARPED believes that communities and marginalized sections of society can collectively ensure better living conditions through education and organization. The organization's activities are focused on action research, information dissemination, mobilization, advocacy, and assistance. CARPED's strategic approach to development efforts consists of capacity building of self-help groups, resource mobilization, and management of government-sponsored welfare measures.

Additionally, CARPED continues to participate in networks, campaigns, and movements to facilitate people’s development, especially in the areas of child rights, education, participatory governance, and community management of natural resources.
